Make Your Own Pore Strips
A Cheap Pore Tape That Works
I've tried a lot of nose pore tape and creams before. Some worked, some were just a complete waste of money. Watsons is a leading cosmetics and skin care brand in Asia. In the Philippines, Watsons is a drug store and beauty chain. This is where I discovered their in-house brand of nose pore tapes. I was smitten.
A box of Watsons Nose Pore Tape costs only P119 (approx. $2.71) and contains 10 strips. The box is quite cute and the pore tapes are packed individually. To use, start with a clean face and nose. The pore tape is long and wide and reaches a little over your nose. Wet the non-sticky part of the pore tape, peel and press onto your nose. Be sure to make it as perfect as possible, pushing out the air bubbles to make the tape lie smoothly on your nose. Wait for a few minutes for the pore tape to completely dry. It will hurt a little when you peel as it will also pull out the tiny hairs on your face but it's all worth it. Waxing is still worse. You will really see all the white and blackheads on the tape and your nose will feel smooth and clean.
I use this once a week. I have sensitive skin but this does not give me rashes and allergies. It does not make my skin dry. It leaves my skin taut. If there are sticky leftovers on your nose, wipe them off gently with some wet wipes.
If you're in Manila, visit Watsons or Beauty by SM. It's also probably available in all Watsons stores all over the world. Be sure to check out their seasonal sales as this product gets 10%-20% off so you can hoard!

Frequently Asked Questions...
How do you get rid of blackheads and clogged pores?
I've tried a lot, like pore strips (too much irritation), comedone extractor (too much skin peeling), and also masques (like the mint julep masque). I can't seem to get rid of the blackheads and clogged pores I have around my nose.
Does anyone have a solution that has worked for them? Like, scrubs, or microdermabrasion, or another method? How long do you think it would take? thanks!
Answer:
HypE - Never ever blow dry your face! Please! We've all seen the effects of over-blowdrying the hair - it becomes brittle, dry and dull. Now imagine your face, which is so much more delicate! Drying your face out is not going to help with unclogging pores - if your skin becomes dry it over-compensates by producing ever more oil! Not to mention it's ageing, damaging and dulling to the face!
Okay, so what I love to use for amazingly clear skin is:
1) In the shower: Clinique's facial soap for oily skin. This is amazing; it's such great quality, really soothing and cleans deep into the skin. Your skin feels smooth, clear and squeaky-clean!
2) Still in the shower: Simple's 'Spotless Skin Blackhead eliminating face scrub'. This is so great, and really works! By removing all dirt, grease, dead skin, make up residue and excess cleanser you ensure you pores are unclogged and your skin looks healthy. Try and use this product about 2 times a week, as more could thin or damage the skin, and is just not necessary!
3) Out of the shower: Simple's 'Pore minimising toning cleanser'. After the facial soap and scrub this closes the pores and ensures they remain clean. It also soothes the skin, feels great to apply and prepares the skin for a good moisturiser.
4) Make sure you moisturise! I cannot stress enough just how essential this is! Put what YOU want into your skin, before your skin starts producing oils which will clog up the pores! I love Clinique's 'Dramatically different moisturising lotion/gel'. I am also a fan of Simple's moisturisers and have recently discovered a New Zealand brand called Skinfood (available on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk) which has great, all natural moisturisers that don't clog pores. There is also a fantastic deep cleansing 'Mud face masque' which I would really recommend using once a week!
As soon as you begin a proper, tailored skincare routine like this, your skin will being to glow and look so much clearer and cleaner! Stick with it though, as if you miss days it just won't have the same effect!
