Well it can be a result of different things. In some cases its b/c of the detergent, or sometimes it's just b/c of the saliva. Now my daughter had that also she's now 2 and its' gotten better but it's better that you take her to doc. My daughter ended up having bad ECZEMA it would turn her cheeks red and chapped. Sometimes she would even have blood/puss coming out. She now goes to the dermatologist once every 3-6 mo.
It's important that you get it checked out b/c it can leave scars on your child. My daughters have faded away thanks to the medications. If it's eczema they will give you a little steroid ointment to treat it and some liquid medicine for your child to help them sleep through the night and stop the itching.
Good luck if it's eczema it might not go away in some cases it does.
